American Express Global Transfer: International Payment Solutions for Your US Business
What Is Amex Global Transfer?
American Express offers international payment solutions for business cardholders. It allows you to move money between US and international accounts, settle invoices across borders, and manage multi-currency transactions.
How It Works
Velocity: Usually 1-3 business days. Costs: 1-2% fee + FX spread (typically 1.5-3%). Minimums: Often USD 1,000+
When to Use It
Good for: Large one-off transfers, invoice payments, payroll to contractors. Not ideal for frequent small transfers (fees add up). Better options: Wise, Mercury, or your bank's wire service.
Alternatives
Wise: 0.5-2% fees. Fast (1 day). Great for EUR to USD. Mercury: ACH transfers only (domestic). Wire transfers: USD 15-50 per transfer. Slow but direct.
