CANVENA's mission: scaling existing sustainable tropical forests, making them a viable and easily accessible mainstream investment option.

Canvena Ltd. is currently building a forestry-backed investment product that transforms timber into a stable, ESG-aligned asset class, suited for both private and institutional supporters.

Why timber? Why now?

Deforestation is one of the biggest threats to the ecology of our planet. Political initiatives are failing miserably, carelessly misspending trillions of taxpayers' money on inefficient policies and only paying lip service to lofty CO² pledges but in reality making very little progress. We can no longer put our hope in politicians, whose scope doesn't extend further than the next legislative period.

NGOs often showcase great ideological fervour, however, raising the necessary funding to protect forests has proven difficult, thus limiting the actual impact of most initiatives.

At CANVENA, we are convinced that the only way to make a true ecological impact, is by making ecology profitable.

Therefore, CANVENA Ltd., together with its partners, aims to support and massively scale existing, already fully operational sustainable timber plantations in the tropics, turning them into easily accessible and financially viable instruments for wealth appreciation.

There is an undeniable demand for sustainable investment opportunities in timber, if they are packaged and presented in an attractive financial vehicle. CANVENA will soon launch such a vehicle. As we see other assets coming increasingly under pressure from geopolitical and market forces, our research indicates that the market is ready. Are you?

What's in it for you?

Financial benefits

On the financial side, there are some very interesting upsides for sustainable-forest-as-an-asset:

  • Forest and timber are an excellent hedge against inflation.
  • It passively generates additional revenue through CO² certificates.
  • Flexible optional harvesting strategy enables profit maximisation. When timber prices drop, the trees are left to grow and appreciate in value despite bearish markets.
  • Sustainable forests fulfil the requirements for truly impactful ESG-investment and have a proven positive branding effect.
  • The revenue-to-risk ratio is very favourable.
  • Timber has a very low correlation to other asset classes, making it less sensitive to market volatility.

Ecological and social benefits

On the ecological and social side, scaling sustainable timber production has many positive effects.

  • Off-sets large amounts of CO²-emissions from fossil fuels.
  • Decreases the spread of desserts and soil degradation in some of the poorest parts of the world.
  • Reduces the need to cut down existing rain forests, saving biotopes for endangered species and indigenous people.
  • Improves socio-economic conditions for local populations, creating jobs, enabling better education and health care.

A note to potential backers:

While the ecological and social benefits might not be directly linked to profit, our research has shown that both private and institutional investors are increasingly looking for more sustainable ways of securing both growth and impact. There is an awareness of the collective responsibility we carry for future generations and given viable choices, many investors are willing to back sustainable projects if they are also wealth positive.

If that applies to you and your organisation, let's talk.

Get in early and enjoy Early-bird benefits!

Our partners

MIRO Forestry Ltd.

To realise our plans for profitable reforestation, we've partnered with Africa's largest timber producer, MIRO Forestry Ltd, with its headquarters in London, UK, and operations in Ghana and Sierra Leone.

MIRO Forestry Ltd. has been planting and harvesting forests and processing high-quality timber products since 2009. The company is FSC-certified and has a solid working relationship with regional and national governments. It has proven itself not only as an excellent timber producer, with a long list of ISO-certifications, ensuring a constant high quality, but also as an impactful driver of ecological, social and health development in the regions, where they operate.

Ghana and Sierra Leone are optimal locations for sustainable timbre:
Both countries have a legal code based on the British justice system.
The tropical climate ensures a significantly higher growth rate than in temperate climate zones.
There is a large, motivated workforce at hand and production costs are very competitive, ensuring healthy margins.

MIRO is currently cultivating approx. 10% of the land allocated to their operations, affording them an incredible growth potential. With additional capital from CANVENA and it's backers, they will be able to scale the business to a new order of magnitude.
